Happy Little Gig!
I have to admit that my time living in the country changed me into a simple little soul. Yea, by that I mean I like to keep it simple.
Life, that is.
For me, life is best enjoyed on a primal level and that goes for my work as well.
I like simple, clean, pure work. Nothing complicated. No monumental accomplishments.
Just quiet, simple, productive work.
I like being "out and about" too. In the outdoors, that is.
Not sitting in a confined office space.
So, I've come upon this little gig that I will run through Christmas.
It is a simple, happy little gig: delivering flowers!
I ride in my cute little truck with my cute little Maxidog, Co-Pilot Extraordinnaire, and we drive around the nearby neighborhoods and bring joy and happiness and color to people!
It's only through Christmas Eve, but it's fun, it's easy, and it's fulfilling in a simple sort of way!
No wonder HE loves his gig!

Good for you! Glad you found something so quick and something you enjoy. Maybe you can convince them to keep you on through Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day then Father's.... well maybe not June, but you could work it into at least May.
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah, ya never know! :-)
ReplyDeleteJune? Weddings!
Congrats on this! I've thought of this myself, but I've never acted on it. Probably because I worry I won't know the towns well enough!
ReplyDeleteWith GPS it's not a problem!
Delete(Though I do know the areas already.)
Deb:
ReplyDeletethis sounds good. too bad it wasn't during better weather, then you could have used Squirt.
by the time the month is over, you could be a tour guide of the area

Ha ha! Squirt could not handle 20-40 flower orders, even tho her "cargo capacity" is pretty good! LOL
DeleteA few orders might have been fun!
I have worked these roads for close to 20 years doing home health visits! That was my "plus" in getting on here. Love it!
I had to smile reading your post. A few years ago I started delivering papers to help out a friend of mine. "Just one or two days a week." He said. Now here I am six years later and he and I own our little company (Trade Specials LLC) and we have ten different contracts. Funny thing is that I still deliver papers "one or two days a week." My point is that you never know what will grow when you plant a seed.

DeleteYour comment is ironic in that this is exactly how I am viewing this gig: as a seed hoping to grow into something more!
DeleteI am consulting with a local SBA mentor with a goal of eventually setting up an LLC of my own.
Your story made me smile as well and is very inspiring! :=)
Congrats on your success!
Very cool!

Great job Deb. I can see you having fun, puttering around in your truck delivering cheery flowers to all. And you get to bring Maxidog too, bonus.
ReplyDeleteYeah, she drives when I get tired! LOL
