Rapid heart beat, chills of delight, the thrill of the find...I'm in LOVE!
This time for a little innovative ride called the 2014 Honda GROM.
It is coming to Honda Power Sports dealerships in August and I cannot wait to get down there and see it!
I am sure it will be snatched up like hot cakes by all the Ruckus riders who have longed for 125cc power on a Ruckus or "Ruckus-like" platform. Like me!
Low seat height (29 inches), 125cc (65+ mph), fat 12 inch tires, disk brakes, double up riding, and over 125 mpg in a steel framed, air cooled engine with fuel injection.
A tiny ride for tiny riders, like me! (Well, "short tiny" anyway.)
Price? $2,,999ish
You do have to shift it's 4 speed transmission like a motorcycle, but I am ready for it!

Drooling, drooling,......
Nice little commuter bike for those who want a bit more power but still get great mileage and rideability. Will have to check it out when they arrive (assuming they're being imported into Canada).
ReplyDeleteI saw something online that indicates that they will be sold in Canada!
DeleteI heard something about this the other day. It is nice to see the smaller displacement bikes coming out. Honda seems to be leading the pack too.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see how available they will be in dealerships once they start coming in. I am reading on TotalRuckus.com and a lot of people are putting down their deposits for them.
DeleteI think it will be very difficult to find one to look at, much less buy.
I think there will be a LOT of used Ruckus scooters for sale as a result, however!
I'm exhausted thinking about could I, should I. I'm sticking with my Metro and if the mechanic can get me to 45mph I'm happier.
ReplyDeleteI'll be waiting to hear what you think of this bike.
I think you may have "heard" it in this post. I doubt I'll ever see one for the reasons described above.
DeleteUsed ones will be "beat to death", so I may be riding my Met for a while longer as well.
Like Trobairitz I just heard about this. There's a perception out there that Honda has been listening to those of us looking for basic features on smaller, more efficient machines.
ReplyDeleteLooks like there's a place for this one in Deb' s right hand!
Maybe in my "heart", not sure I'll ever be able to own one unless things improve on many levels in my working life. LOL
DeleteAnyway, carrying "bike lust" in one's heart is a PAINFUL thing.
All consuming, painful. Yep.
I think I'll go eat a donut now...:=)
I think they are cute as heck, I saw the review about a month ago and thought "where the heck did they come up with the name?". Makes me wonder if the person who was naming it their stomach growled & made a "Grom" sound. Just kidding I think it is a god little niche bike and Honda is marketting it to scooterists in hope that they will step up into a larger bike once they get comfortable. Honda had the CBR 125 sport bike, but it is too tall & too sportbike-ish. The one thing you definitely sacrifice is storage and carrying capacity. Personally if you are thinking this look at a 250 Honda Rebel it's not that much of a stretch from the little Grom and it is low slung and comfortable to ride. If you are shifting 4 gears you might as well shift 5.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine it's not even stateside yet and it has it's own owner forum and website?

Somewhere in all this I read about the origin of the name, Grom.
I'll try to find and post...
"Grom":
ReplyDelete1. n. Describes someone that is young and is a skilled skateboarder/surfer.
I know at 3 people excited to get one in August & one is a Ruckus rider. I'm anxious to see this one and the new 300cc Honda Forza maxi scooter. I'm glad Honda is starting to expand their choices again.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I am eagerly awaiting too!
ReplyDeleteHope it doesn't become difficult to get one, if we decide we want one!
