Not To Be

Ain't gonna happen...

So yeah, an update on this situation. One day I go down to the powersports store and find this little used Metropolitan scooter sitting there with only 714 miles on it and *BAM!!* that is it!

I've swapped over my lay-away to the Met and the Ruck will have to wait awhile. Difference in price? Try $1500.

Yep, Rucks have gone up in the price that's for sure.

The Met is a 2002, no rust or damage, gone over by the shop, runs like a charm. Just like my 2009 that I woefully sold in 2013.

"The Met is a Ruckus dressed up to go out" with some pluses that are good for around here: locking center stand, locking under seat compartment, rear rack capacity, front basket capacity (already bought and ready to install), and a windshield available for colder weather.

The Met only gets up to 40 mph, is carburated, and has a MUCH more comfortable seat than the Ruckus.

So, for now, on my limited budget, I am going for the Met.

Updates to follow....

Not my photo, but this is what it looks like. Will try to post an actual pic later..

    1. Well, "found" is right. There are few used or new around me and when they appear they go fast. This is one of four in the shop last week and the other three sold over the weekend. The fact that they will hold it for me is amazing, but this is how I can best get one. I did get to ride a new Vino and it topped out at 30, which surprised me! So I am going back to my roots for my first scoot and perhaps a second, bigger one will follow eventually.

    1. I am more than content with the caburated GET engine on the Ruck. It's bulletproof and I want to get one before they do change it!

    1. Oh, I never left. Just had to sell to pay the bills during a very dry spell.

  6. Now I am seeing that this new scoot is advertised by this dealer on CL for 400 less than what they offered to sell it to me for. Not happy here and plan to talk to the asap.

  9. I think the Metropolitan is a better scooter than the Ruckus. Weather protection, luggage space, and good looks. Mine drowned in a hurricane but until submerged in saltwater gave perfect service in great comfort. Best 50cc on the market.

    1. They really are a blast and I also appreciate the locking storage, locking center stand, and fuel gauge too! Rides just like a Ruck. But I must confess, some day I'd like a Ruckus again too.

So sorry about your scoot! :-(

  10. UPDATE: I got the scooter for a great deal and it is still on lay-away. I hope to raise the funds to get it out before Labor Day!

A spring and summer without riding sure sucks.
